The aluminum trim coil thickness ranges from 0.08 to 4mm in the market. The fact is, the thickness of an aluminium trim coil consists of at least two layers. Some rolls with both sides coated have three layers. The thickness includes that of an aluminium roll and that of its coating layer. Generally the base coil is much thicker than its layer. The base aluminum coil thickness is evaluated by mm while the coating layer by μm. 1mm equals to 1000μm. This indicates the disparity of thicknesses of a base coil and its coating layer.

Aluminum trim coil thickness is also known as the thickness of color coated aluminium coil. As the name implies, the coil has the surface coated with a layer of paint, commonly with fluorocarbon or polyester. The coil is widely used in aluminum composite panels, aluminum veneers, aluminum honeycomb panels, aluminum ceilings, roofing surfaces, trims, cans and electronic products. The thickness of aluminum trim coil proves to be crucial in performance of the coil. It should neither be too thick nor too thin. A proper aluminum trim coil thickness protects the surface from corrosion and the surface layer can last 30 years after special treatment.

The color coated aluminum coil coating is divided into polyester coating (PE) and fluorocarbon coating (PVDF). The polyester coating color coated aluminum coil is an anti-UV ultraviolet coating, and the polyester resin is used in the main chain. The pe coated aluminum trim coil is specially suitable for interior decoration and advertising panels. Fluorocarbon coated color coated aluminum coil is a mixture of fluorocarbon resin, pigment, alcohol ester solvent and auxiliary agent using fluoroenyne as the basic monomer. It is especially suitable for the decoration and display of indoor, outdoor decoration, commercial chain, exhibition advertisements, etc. in public places. In spite of excellent performance of the paints, extra thickness of the coating layer will reduce quality of an aluminum trim coil.
