5052 O Aluminum Sheet

December 15, 2025

5052 aluminum alloy is one of the most representative materials in the aluminum-magnesium alloy series, widely used in various fields due to its excellent corrosion resistance, good formability, and outstanding weldability. In particular, 5052 O aluminum sheet, due to its unique physical and mechanical properties, has become the preferred material for many industrial applications.

5052 O aluminum sheet

The core advantage of 5052 O aluminum sheet lies in its scientific alloy system design: the magnesium content is strictly controlled within the range of 2.2%~2.8%, while 0.15%~0.35% chromium is added to form a stable Al-Mg-Cr phase structure; while impurities such as silicon and copper are limited to ≤0.25% and ≤0.10%, respectively. This composition design not only gives it a low density of 2.68 g/cm³ (30% lighter than steel), but also significantly improves its corrosion resistance—in salt spray tests simulating marine environments, its surface can remain intact for more than 1000 hours, far exceeding the performance of pure aluminum sheets such as 1060.

The O temper (fully annealed state) is a hallmark characteristic of this product. After annealing at 345℃ and slow cooling, the internal stress of the material is completely released, exhibiting excellent plasticity: tensile strength reaches 170~305MPa, yield strength ≥65MPa, and elongation up to 25%. This means it can withstand complex forming processes such as deep drawing, stamping, and 0° bending without cracking—we once supplied 0.8mm thick 5052 O temper aluminum sheets to an automotive parts manufacturer, achieving a one-time forming rate of up to 98% for their fuel tank components.

5052 aluminum sheet has excellent corrosion resistance, especially in marine and chemical environments. The oxide film formed on its surface effectively resists oxidation and corrosion, thus finding wide application in shipbuilding, chemical equipment, and food processing industries. The corrosion resistance of 5052 O aluminum sheets makes them ideal for outdoor applications, maintaining long-term stability in harsh environments.

5052 O aluminum sheets have good formability, suitable for various processing methods, including stamping, bending, and deep drawing. Its superior formability reduces material waste and improves production efficiency during manufacturing. Furthermore, 5052 aluminum sheet exhibits excellent weldability, compatible with various welding methods such as TIG and MIG welding, ensuring the strength and durability of weld joints.

Due to its unique properties, 5052 O aluminum sheet is widely used in multiple industries, including:

Automotive: Used for body structural components and interior trim, its lightweight properties effectively improving fuel efficiency.

Shipbuilding: Primarily used for hull and deck construction, providing resistance to corrosion in marine environments.

Chemical Equipment: Used for storage tanks, pipelines, and other chemical processing equipment, ensuring long service life.

Construction: As a roofing and exterior wall material, 5052 aluminum sheet offers excellent aesthetics and weather resistance.

We offer a variety of specifications of 5052 O aluminum sheet to meet the needs of different customers. Thicknesses range from 0.15mm to 600mm, and widths can reach up to 2650mm. All products comply with GB/T 3880-2006 and ASTM standards, ensuring material quality and performance meet industry requirements. Each batch of products comes with a material inspection report, ensuring traceability of mechanical properties and chemical composition.
